Day 1

Arrival in the Himalayan Kingdom – Drive to Thimphu

  • Experience: Your journey begins with a spectacular flight into Paro. After meeting your guide, enjoy a scenic drive to the capital, Thimphu.
  • En route stop: Visit the charming Tamchog Lhakhang, accessible by crossing a traditional iron chain bridge.
  • Evening: Visit the Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion), the seat of Bhutan’s government, beautifully lit in the evening light.
  • Overnight: Thimphu

Day 2

Thimphu – The Spiritual Trails

  • Morning Hike: Embark on a beautiful hike to Tango Goemba (approx. 1.5 hours uphill), a stunning monastery and important Buddhist university founded in the 13th century.
  • Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a well-earned picnic lunch amidst the serene natural surroundings.
  • Afternoon Hike & Sightseeing: Continue your hike or drive to the trailhead for Cheri Goemba (Chagri Dorjeden Monastery), another significant retreat built in 1620. Later, explore Thimphu’s highlights, which may include the Buddha Dordenma statue, the National Memorial Chorten.

Day 3

Over the Dochula Pass – Hike to Lungchuzekha Goemba

  • Morning: Drive to the Dochula Pass (3,100m). Marvel at the 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens and, on a clear day, the panoramic Himalayan views.
  • Highlight Hike: Begin your hike to Lungchuzekha Goemba. This 3-4 hour round-trip trail through ancient rhododendron and pine forests is a local secret, offering some of the most spectacular views of the Himalayan range from its summit.
  • Evening: Visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, arguably the most beautiful fortress in Bhutan, situated at the confluence of the Pho(Male) and Mo(Female) Chhu rivers.

Day 4

Punakha's Blessings – Drive to Paro

  • Morning Hike: Hike up to the magnificent Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a unique temple perched on a hilltop overlooking the Punakha valley. The hike takes about 45-60 minutes each way through rice fields and forest.
  • Cultural Visit: Visit the whimsical Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple), dedicated to the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley. The walk through rice paddies is an experience in itself.
  • Afternoon: Drive back to Paro Valley, enjoying the changing landscapes.

Day 5

The Crown Jewel: Hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery

  • Full Day Experience: Embark on the iconic hike to Paro Taktsang, the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This challenging but deeply rewarding 4-6 hour round-trip journey climbs 900 meters to the monastery clinging to a sheer cliff face.
